'Lilium bakerianum var. yunnanense'
(Purple Bulb Form)
(Species / Wild Lily)
Grown and flowered by Pontus Wallstén of Switzerland, the bulbs that produced these flowers were an uncharacteristic purple color and produced light pink blooms differing from the type in color. L. bakerianum is a species that requires a great deal of field study as it probably has more "variants" than any other species. One could probably spend a life time properly categorizing L. bakerianum. This June bloomer in nature is found at around 8,000 feet.

Pontus has an excellent book titled 'The Lily Species and their bulbs' and he can be contacted by email at pontus.wallsten@bluewin.ch for more information. He also offers some rare species lilies in limited quantities that are shipped from his nursery in Switzerland.
