(Species / Wild Lily)
Very much likeL. martagon var. album, L. martagon var. albiflorum carries a few wonderful pink spots. Flowers are also more waxy in appearance than album. Woodcock & Stearn (1950) reported that this lily was first described by the Croatian botanist Vukotinovic in 1877 from a wild plant found near Zagred, the capital of Croatia. They also went on to say that "a sport of this kind is liable to arise anywhere within the area of the ordinary form or in gardens". Nevertheless, it continues to carry its name as a unique and separate form of var. album.
