'Exotic Sun' - Orienpet Hybrid Lily
Fragrant. 3 to 4+ Feet. July flowering.
It was only a matter of time. We have Double Asiatics, Double Easter x Asiatics, Double Orientals, and now at long last, a Double Orienpet.
While the jobber companies, as they do, jumped on this when first available, we held back awaiting successful garden trials. Just because something was selected in Holland for the forcing trade does not make it a garden worthy lily. While in trials, we saw 'Exotic Sun' advertised as being a double Oriental, a double 'Longiflorum (Easter Lily) x Oriental as well as being a double Trumpet, none of which are correct. This is an Orienpet hybrid.
Our main concern in trials was the pastel yellow fading. Here in our Pacific Northwest climate, 'Exotic Sun' has more than proven itself. That being said, due to the nature of pastels, pinks in particular, we do recommend planting in light PM shade in areas when late July temps exceed 90 daily so as to enhance color. Growing to 4 feet in trials, undisturbed for a couple years, we expect Exotic Sun to reach closer to 5 feet, assuming you are feeding her.
Very limited quantity for fall delivery of approximately 75 bulbs.
Bulb Size - Our standard for bulbs of this Orienpet Hybrid Lily Bulb cultivar ranges from Premium-size (16/18 cm) to Exhibition-size (over 20 cm).
Classification: Orienpet Hybrid Lily Bulb (USDA Zones 5-9, lows to -15 F. Winter mulch recommended in colder climates)
