'Lady Alice' - Lilium henryi Hybrid
You save $4.00 on quantity of 6 bulbs over “each” price on this variety.
Heavy scent. 3 to 4 Feet. Late August / Early September flowering.
A F1 hybrid of L. henryi and Auralian breeding, this lovely semi 'Turk's Cap' type flower is white with L. henryi orange centers. Lots of raised papillae for added interest. Sold by the “jobbers”, those that buy and resell their product rather than actually growing it themselves, this lily runs quite a range of descriptions from being a “Tiger Lily” which it is not, a Speciosum lily (L. rubrum), which it is not, to one site that even claims it will thrive in poor soil, not so with any lily. Another site says it will “naturalize”, which no lily will do without regular weeding, fertilizer, water, and being periodically divided as clumps become crowded.
We have found in our fields that this lily is a remarkably strong grower, due to its breeding background and will, with time, produce bulbs over ½ pound in size before dividing. Flowering in July, 'Lady Alice' usually tops out at about 4 feet though we have had it over 6 feet and yes, she does carry a very light fragrance in warm dry weather and no wind. We believe this lily was bred by our friend, the late Julius Wadekamper while he lived in Fairbault, Minnesota.
Limited Supply for Fall 2022 of approximately 120 bulbs
Bulb Size - Our standard for bulbs of this Trumpet Hybrid Lily Bulb cultivar ranges from 14/16 cm to Exhibition-size (over 20 cm). Click here for details.
